Hello... it's been a while hasn't it? :P
I'm sorry for the lack of posts, I've just not known what to post recently! I've felt like I've had a blog block sort of thing. There's been things I've thought "oh that would make a decent post!" but then forgot what it was the next day when I come to write it up! pfft! So I've decided to get a blog book haha, and it's actually really helpful! I don't have to sit around wondering 'hmm, what shall I post today...' then not be able to think of anything. So my blog shall be alive and kicking again! I've got plenty of post ideas and all written down in my new handy dandy book and am more motivated than ever to get blogging! :D
Today I thought I'd start with something simple and a fairly recent purchase which is The Naked Basics from Urban Decay.
Now seeing as I own the Naked 1 and 2, I didn't need it...at all. But it lured me in...and after reading all the wonderful reviews I just caved...with a little help from the Urban Decay lady who did a very good job at persuading me too! lol.
The palette is teensy tiny, the same size of my iPhone 3g (I'm retro), and feels quite rubbery which I really like for some reason. :)
When it's in my hand it feels good! As daft as it sounds, it feels nice to hold. :P And with the large mirror in the lid, it's most definitely perfect to throw in your handbag.
The colours are all perfect to take you from an everyday daytime eye look to a dramatic evening make-up!
They are all matte shades apart from the first colour in the palette, Venus, which my favourite along with Naked 2. :P
They swatch beautifully and blend like a dream. The consistency of the shadows are incredibly smooth and have amazing colour pay off. They are a little bit powdery when you're trying to get colour on your brush but I don't think that's a major problem; not when the quality otherwise is so fabulous! :)
I love this little palette and it's so handy to just grab and do an eye look with super fast! There isn't an over whelming amount colours which works to my advantage because I ooh and ahh about what to put on my eyes for that long, I hardly have time to put anything on in the end! :P
Overall, I definitely recommend it! If you haven't got either of the Naked palettes it's a good one to try. If you do have both Naked palettes, you probably don't need this!
It's fantastic for anyone who loves their neutrals and mattes or for anyone on the go too!
You get 6 shadows and each shadow contains 1.3g of product... I believe that's six full sized shadows for £20! One potted single eyeshadow from Urban Decay costs £14 in itself!! :O
If you're interested in this palette you can get it *here* for £20 or at any Urban Decay counter! :D
I also just want to say thank you to all my new followers and thank you to everyone who entered my MAC giveaway recently! :) The winner was randomly chosen via Rafflecopter and Random.org who happened to be Marvelle from Blog of Shadows! So congratulations! And I shall be having more giveaways soon! :D
I hope everybody has a happy Monday and thank you for reading!!
Love, Kerry

It looks gorgeous. I have Naked 2 but like you, I'm really wanting this one as well. Hmmm!
ReplyDeleteHaha, it's really handy because of its size and I was so curious about it... I know I didn't need it but it got the curiosity out of my system and I most certainly will get use out of it. :P
DeleteIt looks amazing! Love this one!
DeleteGreat post! I dont have any Naked palettes and was thinking about purchasing the original Naked but now I'm not sure lol xx
ReplyDeleteOoh I'd stick with the Naked 1 palette! This is a lovely palette but the Naked 1 is gorgeous!! :)
DeleteGreat swatches! I love how mini it is! Also £20 is quite bargainous!
ReplyDeleteIt is! Especially when you consider the price of their potted shadows :O xo
DeleteLovely post! I think I need to cave in and get one myself..I usually go for shimmery shades but the swatches are too beautiful and everyone's raving about it lol x
ReplyDeletehaha, it gives such a beautiful matte eye! Everytime I look at the palette I think of pin-up style make-up :P
DeleteI like that there is one shimmer so you can layer it over the mattes to add dimension or use it on the lid/brow-bone! (:
Absolutely loving this palette, i have all of the UD Naked palette and they are all so lovely!
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled across your blog through the #bbloggers blog hop and i'm your newest follower :D would love it if you'd stop by and take a little peek through mine

http://alittlebitunique.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/my-first-giveaway.html
I sure will, thank you for letting me know!! :)
DeleteI love the palette but I am disappointed they the couldn't or wouldn't include a true white matte eye shadow.
ReplyDeleteFor me it kinda kills the whole palette. Do you agree?
Yeah 100% get what you mean! It's meant to be a matte palette and having a shimmer in there ruins that a bit.
DeleteBut (for me) it doesn't kill it because I love the colour itself. It reminds me of Virgin from Naked 1 which is one of my favorite highlighters of all time! :)
I do think though, if they're gonna advertise it as matte, the shades should be ALL matte!
I feel like with NAKED Basics palette you can totally justify having it even if you have either one of the NAKED palettes. I've been using it every day and I love it! It's so handy to have for a super quick look that you don't have to think too much about! Great review :D (LOL, and I love your retro iphone!)

DeleteIt's brilliant for fast makeup and the quality is beautiful!
I've followed your blog!! :D
Wooh, I love the four last colours!
ReplyDeleteMe too :D
DeleteW.O.S looks amazing. Can't wait till I buy this palette. I've waited for a matte palette from UD since I saw the original Naked for the first time.
ReplyDeletewww.mrmajlajf.blogspot.com
I know! I wish they'd come out with a big matte palette (this makes me picky doesn't it?! lol), with more various colours. Although there's only so many 'naked' colours you can have in a palette without it being repetitive so maybe not! lol
DeleteGreat review, I already wanted this but I didn't actually know what size it was until you posted your comparison!
ReplyDeletewww.gleepface.com
Thank you! :D
DeleteIt's very small! Smaller than it looks to be in pictures. It's cute sized. :P
It's crazy how this is now one of my favorite palettes! <3 the only thing is, mine is SUPER hard to open! x :c
ReplyDeleteMine isn't easy to open either! I never thought of putting that in the post! I guess you don't need to worry about it randomly opening if you take it in your handbag though! haha.
DeleteLooks like a gorgeous palette - I want it! :)
